In “Her Sweet Weight on My Heart a Night” by Emily Dickinson, the speaker describes the emotional weight another person can have on us. Think about someone who has left a lasting impact on your life. In what ways do you still carry that person with you?

I still use the same practices that I did when this person was still here. My old PE and fitness trained had moved to NY and Ive known him most of my life and he gave me the base of my fitness journey. I still follow his practices and advice today. I follow the lifts I should do, and tips he gives me. I will always remember him for what he did for me. Today in class we finished up the heart artistic drawings and reflection questions.

In “Heart, We Will Forget Him!” by Emily Dickinson, the speaker shows a conflict between what we think and what we feel. Describe a time when your heart and your mind seemed to want two different things. Which one did you listen to, and why?

A time when my heart and mind wanted different things is when I was trying to get over someone I had loved. My mind was trying to get over her but my heart didn't want to because I liked the attention of her. It felt nice to be loved by someone back and I missed that feeling so much. That's why my heart was struggling but I tried for my mind to push forward. To forget that it happened and move on. Today in class we started working on our heart drawing and labeling assignment.

Prompt: In Emily Dickinson’s “I Felt a Funeral, in My Brain,” the speaker experiences a mind that seems to work against her. Sometimes our own thoughts can make a situation feel worse than it actually is. Describe a time when overthinking, worrying, or doubting yourself affected the way you handled a situation. What did you learn from the experience?

When I first started taking the SAT I was studying late, for example waiting for the last week. This made me stressed out and overwhelmed because I had to cram a lot. My scores also turned out not great. When I studied for more time like a month leading up to it it was a lot less stressful. I also got a better score on it than when I studied less. I learned that the more you study the less overwhelmed you are when it comes time and the better your results are. Today in class we just read and annotated one of Emily Dickinsons poems.

Write about an adventure you would like to go on.

One adventure that I would like to gone on is a cruise from Miami to the Caribbean. That would be interesting to me because there is so much to do. First of all, you could go swimming in the sea, then you could go in the pool on the cruise. The islands you go on too, you could explore the different living conditions of each island you see for example the Bahamas, and you could even swim there. A cruise would alao be the perfect getaway adventure to relax. Today in class we just presented our creative origin myth assignment and watched others present as well.

What is the most creative thing you have ever made? Share what it was and explain why it stands out as your best work.

The most creative thing I have ever made was an abstract art piece that I made last year. It included oil pastel, watercolor, and a collage and I spent close to a month working on it. It has a lot of creative and abstract components so that it stands out. It was my best work because it was an original idea by me and I put a lot of dedication into it. It turned out nice, and is now hung up in my room to remember.  Today in class we just kept working on our creative poster on origin myths.

Everyone has burning questions about life. Mysteries we wonder about but don’t always have clear answers for. Think about your biggest questions about existence, purpose, or the world around you. Write a blog post where you share at least two of your most burning questions about life and explain why these questions matter to you.

One big wonder I have is what happens after death? I'm not necessarily scared of it but what I am scared of is the unknown like what will I feel like? What will I see? That's one of the biggest mysteries I have ever had. Another one is how is our body so perfect? How do we have all the functions we need a brain, two sets of teeth, a stomach, everything in our human body is necessary to survival. And we have everything we need its crazy. Today during class we had a creative assignment we did, started Monday and we will present them Friday.

Analyze how you’ve adapted to the demands of this course over the past week, and evaluate one strength and one challenge you anticipate as we progress, justifying your insights with personal examples.

I think I have adapted to this course well throughout the week. At the start I did not really know what to expect, but now that we've gone further with class I understand that most of the course is reading and writing. One strength that I anticipate is my writing which I enjoy more than reading. One challenge is the reading because I don't like to read that much so its pretty challenging. Writing has always been a thing I've liked to do because you can just get your thoughts out through a different form of expression, and since I'm doing college essays now ive done it a lot. In class we read an origin myth and answered questions about it.
