In “A Worn Path,” Phoenix has a memorable encounter and conversation with the hunter during her journey. Think about a conversation you have had that had a lasting impact on you. What was the conversation about, and how did it change your thinking, perspective, or actions?

I once had a conversation with my older cousin about constantly comparing myself to other people. He told me that everyone moves at a different pace, so focusing too much on someone else’s success can make you ignore your own progress. That made me realize how often I judged myself based on what other people were doing. Since then, I have tried to focus more on my own goals and improvement instead of worrying about where I stand compared to others. The conversation helped me become more confident and patient with myself.

Today in class we discussed the story were reading.
