In A Worn Path, Phoenix faces several obstacles as she makes her way toward her destination, but she continues because she has an important reason for completing her journey. Think about a time when you had to travel somewhere or work through obstacles to reach a destination or goal. What challenges did you face along the way? Was the journey worth it in the end? Explain why or why not.

One time I had to work through obstacles was when I was trying to improve my SAT score. Studying for hours every week became tiring, especially when my practice scores did not improve as quickly as I wanted. There were times when I wanted to give up, but I kept reminding myself that a higher score could help me with college applications. Eventually, all of the practice and frustration paid off when I reached the score I had been working toward. The journey was worth it because it taught me that staying consistent even when progress feels slow can lead to a great result.

Today in class we continued working and listening to someone reading the story.
