Have you ever had a first impression of someone that later turned out to be wrong? What made you form that first impression, and what eventually changed your mind? Based on what you have read so far, what first impression do you have of Mr. Shiflet? Explain what he has said or done that has shaped your opinion of him.

At first, I might judge someone based on how they look or act, but later realize I was wrong after getting to know them better. My first impression of Mr. Shiflet is that he seems mysterious and a little suspicious. He asks strange questions and seems very interested in the old car even though he claims he does not care about money. His actions make me feel like he may have a hidden reason for staying with Mrs. Crater and Lucynell.

Today in class we worked on reading the story.
