Emily struggles with letting go of people throughout her life, and the ending reveals the extreme length she went to in order to keep Homer with her. Why do you think some people have such a difficult time accepting loss or change? Connect Emily’s actions to your own observations or experiences with people struggling to let go.

People have such a hard time dealing with loss or change because they do not know what will come next. For example with change you like to eat the same foods because you know you enjoy them and you don't know what will happen when you try something else. Uncertainty is a huge factor in this. Loss as well, when you lose something or someone then your life will be different as you don't have it anymore. This connects well with how Emily struggles to let go.

Today in class we worked on finishing the rest of the story and kept analyzing it.
